Fans of the popular British comedy series, The Inbetweeners, have been eagerly waiting for news about a potential comeback of the show. And now, their prayers have been answered as Joe Thomas, who played the lovable character Simon Cooper, has given an exciting update on the show’s return.

It all started when creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris bought back the rights to the hit E4 comedy, which originally aired from 2008 to 2010. This news alone was enough to send fans into a frenzy, but Thomas has now confirmed that the duo is actively working on new material for The Inbetweeners.

In an interview with The Sun, Thomas said, “I don’t want to tempt fate by saying anything, but we have been talking about it and I think we are all up for doing something together again. It’s just about making sure we can make it work.”

This statement has given fans hope that the beloved characters of Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil will be back on their screens soon. The Inbetweeners was a huge success during its original run, with its relatable and hilarious take on teenage life resonating with audiences worldwide. The show also spawned two successful movies, further cementing its popularity.

But what can fans expect from this potential comeback? Thomas revealed that the creators are currently in the writing process, and they are determined to deliver something that lives up to the expectations of the fans. “I think Damon and Iain are thinking about reining it in a bit and trying to find a story that is a bit more grounded and a bit less outlandish, but it’s early days,” he said.

This news is sure to excite fans who have been eagerly waiting for more adventures from the four awkward and hilarious friends. The chemistry between the main cast, played by Thomas, Simon Bird, James Buckley, and Blake Harrison, was one of the key elements that made the show so successful. And it seems like the actors are just as keen to reunite as the fans are.

Thomas also mentioned that the creators are aware of the pressure to deliver something that lives up to the original series. “It’s a big task. It’s a big ask to get it right. I don’t want to put any pressure on it because I don’t want to disappoint anyone,” he said.

But with the original creators at the helm, fans can rest assured that the new material will stay true to the spirit of The Inbetweeners. Beesley and Morris have proven their comedic genius with the show’s original run and the movies, and their return to the series is a promising sign for its future.

The Inbetweeners has a cult following, with fans still quoting iconic lines and rewatching episodes years after its end. And with the rise of streaming platforms, the show has gained even more popularity, introducing it to a whole new generation of viewers.

So, while there is no official confirmation of a new season or movie just yet, Joe Thomas’ update has given fans a glimmer of hope. The Inbetweeners may be coming back, and it’s safe to say that fans are eagerly waiting to see what the creators have in store for them.

In the meantime, fans can relive the hilarious and cringe-worthy moments of the show by rewatching the original series and movies. And who knows, maybe with enough buzz and excitement, we might just get to see the misadventures of Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil once again. Fingers crossed!
