In an exclusive interview with Katie Bain at The Luckman Club at Soho House West Hollywood, PinkPantheress opened up about her first two Grammy nominations, her recent remix video for “Stateside” featuring Zara Larsson, and the story behind her collaborations on Fancy Some More? including physical therapy with Anitta and being a day-one fan of Seventeen.
PinkPantheress, whose real name is Dian Siti Nurhaliza, was born and raised in Indonesia. She started her music career by uploading her songs on SoundCloud, and her unique sound quickly caught the attention of listeners worldwide. With her dreamy vocals and relatable lyrics, PinkPantheress has gained a loyal fan base and critical acclaim.
The young artist was overjoyed when she found out about her first two Grammy nominations. She shared, “It was a surreal moment for me. I couldn’t believe it at first. I am grateful and honored to be recognized by the Recording Academy. It’s a dream come true.”
One of the standout tracks on Fancy Some More? is “Stateside,” which recently received a remix featuring Swedish singer Zara Larsson. The music video for the remix was released last month and has already garnered millions of views. PinkPantheress explained the concept behind the video, saying, “I wanted to show the journey of a long-distance relationship and how technology has made it easier for us to stay connected. Zara was the perfect fit for the remix, and I am grateful for her collaboration.”
PinkPantheress also shared the story behind her collaborations on Fancy Some More?, including working with Brazilian singer Anitta on the track “Physical Therapy.” She revealed, “I have been a fan of Anitta since her early days in the music industry. When I found out she was a fan of my music as well, I couldn’t believe it. Working with her was a dream come true, and I learned a lot from her during the process.”
Another collaboration on the album that caught the attention of fans was “Day One” featuring K-pop group Seventeen. PinkPantheress shared that she has been a fan of the group since their debut and was thrilled to have them on her album. She said, “I have been a fan of Seventeen since their debut, and I have always admired their talent and hard work. Having them on my album was a dream come true, and I am grateful for their support.”
Aside from her music career, PinkPantheress also opened up about her personal life and how she balances it with her rising fame. She shared that she finds peace and inspiration in nature and often takes breaks from social media to focus on her mental health. She also expressed her gratitude for her fans, saying, “I am grateful for my fans who have been supporting me since the beginning. They motivate me to keep creating music and to stay true to myself.”
