Katherine Jenkins, the Welsh classical singer, has been living in the United States for several years now. In a recent interview, she opened up about her experience living abroad and the major differences between life in the UK and life across the pond with fellow Britons. Jenkins, who has been based in Los Angeles with her husband and two children, spoke about the challenges and opportunities that come with living in a different country.

One of the biggest adjustments for Jenkins has been the cultural differences between the UK and the US. While she admits to feeling nostalgic for her homeland, she also appreciates the excitement and diversity of living in America. Jenkins says, “I do miss certain things about the UK, like the sense of community and the pubs, but there is a certain energy and buzz in America that I have grown to love.”

One of the major differences Jenkins has noticed is the work culture in the two countries. In the UK, there is a strong emphasis on work-life balance and taking breaks, whereas in America, the work culture is more fast-paced and demanding. Jenkins says, “In the UK, I would have a tea break with my colleagues, but in the US, you barely have time to sit down and have a cup of coffee. It took some getting used to, but I have adapted to the American way of working.”

Another aspect that Jenkins enjoys about living in the US is the weather. Being from Wales, she is used to grey skies and rain. Moving to Los Angeles, where the sun shines almost every day, has been a pleasant change for the singer. She says, “The weather brings out a different side of you. I find myself being more active and outdoorsy. It’s also great for my children to have a backyard to play in all year round.”

Jenkins also appreciates the opportunities that living in America has brought for her career. She has performed at some of the biggest events in the US, including the Super Bowl and the Oscars. She says, “I am grateful for the opportunities that America has given me. It has opened up doors for me that I never thought were possible.”

However, living in a different country also comes with its challenges. Jenkins admits to feeling homesick at times, especially during the holidays. She says, “Christmas in the UK is a big deal, and I do miss the traditions and family gatherings. But I have learned to create new traditions in America, and it has made me appreciate the holiday season even more.”

Despite the challenges, Jenkins has embraced her life in the US and has even become a US citizen. She says, “I am proud to be a Welsh woman, but I am also proud to be a part of the American community. I feel like I have the best of both worlds.”

Jenkins also enjoys connecting with her fellow Britons who have also made the move to the US. She says, “There is a sense of camaraderie among Brits living in America. We share a common bond and can relate to each other’s experiences.”

In conclusion, Katherine Jenkins has adapted to life in the US and has found a balance between her British roots and the American way of life. While she misses certain aspects of the UK, she has also embraced the opportunities and experiences that come with living in America. Her positive outlook and determination to make the most of her time in the US serve as an inspiration for others who are considering a move abroad. As Jenkins says, “Living in a different country may be challenging, but it also broadens your perspective and allows you to grow in ways you never thought possible.”
