Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo took part in the XV National Ordinary Congress of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM) on November 15th. Here, she lauded the cohesion among the organization’s members and her own agenda. As the former Chief of Government of Mexico City, she voiced her backing for the integration of diverse societal sectors ahead of the 2024 elections.

Throughout the gathering, Sheinbaum underscored the significance of worker welfare, noting its correlation with national prosperity, a sentiment that garnered applause from attendees. Moreover, they rallied behind her shortly before her formal registration as a presidential pre-candidate.

Sheinbaum also administered the oath to the inaugural Labor Committees of CATEM‘s Fourth Transformation Defense, slated to be established in a quantity of 10,000. These committees strive to ensure dignified livelihoods for workers, necessitating collaboration from entrepreneurs who have championed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s ethos: “For the good of all, first the poor.”

Senator and former presidential hopeful Ricardo Monreal, now aligned with Sheinbaum’s cause, was among the congress attendees. Monreal reiterated Sheinbaum’s plea to foster positive worker relationships to safeguard labor rights.

Senator and General Secretary of CATEM, Pedro Haces Barba, stressed the current national moment’s importance and reaffirmed his support for Sheinbaum’s continuity with the Fourth Transformation.

The XV National Ordinary Congress of CATEM was graced by the presence of Morena’s president, Mario Delgado Carrillo, alongside numerous governors, including Mara Ledezma, Marina del Pilar Ávila, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, Miguel Navarro, and Sergio Salomón.

Furthermore, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Mario Delgado Carrillo shared on social media their leadership of a meeting with the nine candidates chosen by the party for various federal positions. This inaugural gathering aimed to fortify the Morena movement ahead of the June 2nd elections.
